A young teen in Florida has been shot in the head with a spear, but miraculously, he survived. Yasser Lopez is 16 years old and couldn’t be luckier, considering a spear was accidentally fired into his forehead as it was being loaded. Multiple people stated that the impact from the spear was so powerful that it lifted him off the ground and into the lake.
Yasser was airlifted to the Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital where doctors were only able to saw part of the embedded spear off, but that was only to fit him into a scanner. The x-ray revealed that the spear entered through his right eye, barely missing his eye and exited the back of his brain, making a clean entry.
Dr. Ross Bullock, a neurosurgeon, said that he was unbelievably fortunate that the spear missed every major blood vessile, which saved his speech. The doctors found out that the spear tip was screwed on, which gave them the option to pull the spear out through his brain without any foreseeable complications, all things considered.
Lopez was fully alert and speaking to paramedics upon his arrival, leaving the doctors to believe that he would recover. However, he can’t remember the incident itself and his is currently suffered from post-traumatic stress and is having trouble with the left side of his body.
