71-Year-Old Man Wields Sledgehammer Against Robbers

71-year-old Michael Graver assaulted 4 armed robbers as they broke into a jewellery store, all after stealing two scooters from around the corner. The robbers attempted to break in on Feb. 28, 2011 when they ran into an unsuspecting hero on Abbeygate Street in Bury St Edmonds.

The thieves were confronted by Michael as they were stumbling through the violated shops broken doorway. Shortly after he made his first move the four men began attempting to flee after Mr. Graver had taken their sledgehammer and began swinging.

The video also shows the local crime stopper grabbing a bag from one of the criminals which contained a little over $22,000 worth of expensive watches.

The thieves were caught later on after a lengthy investigation that included Suffolk, Northampton and London Metropolitan police forces. Dwayne Marsh, 34, was found guilty of conspiracy to commit robber and four others have already plead guilty to robber and are awaiting sentencing.
